Is my Universal Analytics tracking ID relevant if I migrate to GA4?

Asked 2 months ago

I am going to migrate from using Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4. I have been looking at all the changes between UA and GA4. I read that, while UA uses tracking ID for data collection, while GA4 uses measurement ID for data collection. Does this mean that the tracking ID in UA will become irrelevant?

Google Analytics 4 uses measurement ID for data collection. It has eliminated the use of tracking ID. However, the tracking ID of UA with the format UA-XXXXXX-X is now converted into a tracking code in GA4 with G-XXXXXXX type. The tracking code interprets the results in reports by inserting data in reports through visuals.
