Do I need to reset UA dimensions and metrics in Google Analytics 4?

Asked 2 months ago

Google Analytics 4 has changed the custom dimensions and metrics that were used in Universal Analytics. I read online that GA4 has changed the scope of custom dimensions, and now it will be set to hit level. Is it necessary for me to reset UA dimensions and metrics before migrating to GA4?

Unlike Universal Analytics, Google Analytics 4 has three types of user metrics: total users, active users, and new users. The UA uses total users in most reports, whereas the GA4 focuses on active users. Therefore in reports, the stats may differ and confuse you. So, it's better to reset dimensions and metrics before migration.
