The time period depends on how your customer paid, your payment method, and the country where your store is based in.
How Long Does Shopify Take To Pay You?
Shopify's pay period (the time between a customer making a payment and the funds being sent to your bank account) is between 1-3 business days. Additionally, it takes most banks 24-72 hours to reflect incoming funds.
This means that you should expect your funds to reflect in your bank account within 1-6 business days, although within 72 hours is most common.
However, in cases where illegal behavior is suspected, Shopify could hold your funds for up to 6 months or longer.
Factors Impacting the Duration of the Payout Period
Shopify's payout period is country-specific but is affected by a number of other factors:
- If you use a Shopify Balance account your funds could reflect within 1 business day.
- If you use Shop Pay installments or third-party payment methods, your funds could take up to 3 days to reflect.
- Business days don't include weekends or public holidays which could further extend your payout period.
- If a sale is made on the weekend or over a public holiday, banks will only release funds on the next working day, meaning there will be a lapse in time between the sale and Shopify receiving them.
